Coca-Cola has unveiled its popular “Share a Coke” campaign in Zimbabwe, replacing its iconic logo on cans and bottles with a variety of popular local names.
The move is designed to foster personal connections and excitement among consumers by allowing them to find and share beverages that feel uniquely their own.
The campaign, which has seen success in various other markets around the world, aims to engage consumers on a personal level. Instead of the traditional Coca-Cola branding, customers will now find bottles and cans labeled with common names such as “Tariro,” “Thandi,” “Tinashe,” and others specific to the region. The idea is simple yet powerful, encourage people to find their names, or those of their friends and loved ones, and share a Coke with them.
“We are seeing a lot of excitement happening in the market. Online, people are actively looking for their names,” said Barry Otiens, a senior manager in frontline marketing for Coca-Cola Zimbabwe and Malawi. “It’s about creating a deeper, more personal connection with our consumers and celebrating the uniqueness of each individual.”
The rollout has already sparked buzz on social media platforms, with people posting photos of themselves holding personalized Coca-Cola bottles.
