Mbare is preparing for a night of rhythm, celebration, and cultural pride as one of Zimbabwe’s most consistent Sungura artists, Simon Mutambi, gets ready to launch his much-anticipated 13th album, Yadeuka Yadeuka, on July 17, 2025, at Zebra Village.
This latest release comes at a time when Mutambi’s star continues to shine brightly across the country, fuelled by a string of hits and an ever-growing fan base.
The new album is already stirring excitement among fans and industry insiders alike. The tracklist features seven carefully crafted songs that reflect Mutambi’s signature blend of deep storytelling, traditional Sungura instrumentation, and relatable themes. Songs such as Nyaya Dzangu, Chimbomira, Mai ndiMai, Munhu weMunhu, Shamiso, and the two high-profile collaborations — Wenyasha, featuring the legendary Nicholas Zakaria, and the title track Yadeuka Yadeuka, featuring Gift Amuli — are expected to make a powerful impact on the local music scene.
This album follows a highly successful run for Mutambi. His 2024 hit Chembere Yako, from the Tiripamutsetse album, dominated airwaves and dance floors, becoming one of the most talked-about tracks of the year.
That momentum built upon the success of his previous album Zvinesimba, which included fan favourites Upenyu Ivhiri and Rodha Mutsviku — both songs that still enjoy heavy rotation on local radio. These achievements culminated in Mutambi claiming the number two spot on the prestigious Radio Zimbabwe Top 50 list in 2024.
What makes Simon Mutambi stand out in the music industry is his ability to evolve without losing touch with the essence of the genre. His music appeals to the older generation while resonating with younger fans who see him as a modern-day torchbearer of traditional sound.
His clean-cut image, heartfelt lyrics, and powerful stage presence have earned him the title of the face of “Smart Sungura” — a fresh and stylish take on the classic genre.
