Hunan International Business Vocational College and the Hunan Association of Zimbabwe is set to revolutionize Zimbabwe's automotive sector. The partnership will train 100 Zimbabwean students in electric vehicle technology, bridging the existing skills gap in the country.

Yan Cao, Vice President of the Hunan Chamber of Commerce in Zimbabwe, emphasized the significance of this collaboration, stating, “This collaboration marks a significant step towards equipping Zimbabwe with the technical expertise required to harness its natural resources and contribute to the global electric vehicle industry.”

The initiative aims to position Zimbabwe as a key player in the burgeoning electric vehicle market, leveraging its natural resources to drive industrial growth and sustainable development. Cao noted that the world is moving towards electric vehicles, saying, “We need to equip them with skills of manufacturing and repairing electrical cars, buses since the world is moving towards that era.”

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi reaffirmed China’s commitment to supporting Africa’s modernization efforts, stating, “China will always stand firmly with Africa, offering strong support for the continent’s modernization and serving as a true friend and sincere brother in Africa’s journey toward development.”

The partnership is expected to yield numerous benefits for Zimbabwe, including the potential to export electric vehicles and buses to neighboring countries and the rest of Africa. With China being Africa’s largest trading partner for 16 consecutive years, the China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo underscores the deepening economic ties between the two regions.

As Zimbabwe embarks on this new journey in electric vehicle technology, the country is poised to benefit from China’s expertise and experience in the sector.
