Palestine Appeals for Global Pressure Over Wave of West Bank Attacks

The State of Palestine has called for urgent international intervention following what it describes as a sharp escalation of violence in the occupied West Bank, with Palestinian Ambassador to Zimbabwe Tamer Almassri condemning reported settler attacks and military operations targeting Palestinian communities.

Ambassador Almassri said Palestine strongly condemns what he described as an unprecedented wave of state and settler terrorism, marked by more than 178 Israeli settler attacks and raids by Israeli occupation forces on Palestinian villages within a 48-hour period.

The developments, which reportedly occurred on the evening of Saturday and continued into the early hours of Sunday, 26 July 2026, included military incursions, house searches, arrests, and the use of live ammunition and tear gas.

According to the Palestinian Embassy, Israeli settlers also carried out attacks on Palestinian homes and mosques, torched vehicles, assaulted civilians, blocked ambulances, and closed major roads in several villages across the West Bank.

Ambassador Almassri said the incidents should not be viewed as isolated acts but as part of a broader pattern of violence that threatens the security and rights of Palestinian civilians.

“The Palestinian people can no longer tolerate the continuation of a policy of impunity,” Ambassador Almassri said, calling on the international community to translate its legal and moral obligations into practical action.

The State of Palestine has urged governments to issue clear statements of condemnation, support independent international investigations, hold those responsible accountable, and take measures against individuals and institutions accused of violating international law.

Ambassador Almassri said protecting civilians and ensuring respect for international law must remain a priority while calling for renewed global efforts to address the broader conflict.

He stressed that the international community has a responsibility to help end the occupation, safeguard Palestinian civilians, and ensure compliance with international legal obligations and relevant international resolutions.

The Palestinian government maintains that continued violence and a lack of accountability risk deepening instability in the region and has appealed for immediate diplomatic action to prevent further escalation.
