Nine women who were arrested for allegedly advertising and providing illicit massage and sexual services via social media platforms have been remanded in custody.
Natasha Makowe, Anne Mandaza, Ashley Nyamutsaka, Nyasha Mungate, Gamuchirai Dzvukutu, Ellen Chihota, Miola Manyange, Euno Chiwara, and Mukhtah Banda are facing charges under the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act. They were remanded in custody until Thursday for a bail hearing.
The State, represented by prosecutor Takudzwa Jambawu, requested a postponement to allow for the verification of the accused's residential addresses.
The women, aged between 18 and 27, are now legally represented.
According to the State, on May 2, 2025, the police’s License Inspectorate Department followed up on Facebook and WhatsApp advertisements allegedly posted by the accused.
The posts reportedly promoted their services, offering massages and sexual acts—including intercourse and oral sex—for a fee of US$20 per session.
The address provided in the adverts was 158 Greendale Avenue, Harare. Acting on this information, a police officer visited the property undercover and rang the intercom.
He was granted entry by one of the accused and escorted into the house, where he was asked to choose a room.
Once inside, the officer was seated on a bed as the women, reportedly semi-naked, introduced themselves one by one.
The officer then identified himself and signaled for his backup team to move in.
All nine women were apprehended on-site when additional officers arrived.
