Two more women have become statistics in the 2022 GBV tally after they died from injuries sustained from vicious beatings.
A woman from Makaya Village in Bikita died this past Saturday from injuries she suffered after two sex clients turned on her.
“.. a woman, 24, was attacked by two unknown male suspects whom she had offered sex at a charge of US$20 at Makaya Village, Bikita, on 17/11/22,” said the police in a statement.
“After the act, the suspects allegedly demanded the money they had paid for the services before severely assaulting the victim with sticks and robbing her of US$20.”
The woman died this Friday, November 18.
On the same day a 17 year old died at Chinhoyi General Hospital. She was also the victim of a vicious beating.
Police said that Welfare Gombingo, 42, of Zvimba is being charged with murder of the young woman who was his niece.
Police said Gombingo assaulted the teen accusing her of coming back late from church on October 30, 2022.
Cases of murder -including women dying as a result of GBV, are becoming a daily occurrence.
