An 18-year-old man been arraigned before the courts accused of having "consensual" sexual intercourse with a 12-year-old juvenile.
Devine Chironda of Mverechena Village, Chinamhora, appeared at the Harare Magistrate's Courts charged with rape.
The State alleges that in August this year, Chironda proposed love to the complainant and she agreed to his proposal.
The two visited each other several times as lovers.
"On September 5, the complainant was sent to a nearby tuck shop by her mother on the way she met Chironda and they went to a nearby church tent.
"In the tent, Chironda and the complainant had consensual sexual intercourse once.
“After the act, the two continued kissing each other, and that is when the complainant's brother saw the two kissing and he reported the matter to the mother,” the court heard.
The mother later asked the complainant and she revealed that she had love affair with Chironda and they had consensual intercourse.
The matter was reported to the police leading to Chironda's arrest.
