A 43-year-old prophet, Comrade Chinaka of Zengeza 3 in Harare, was arrested on Sunday for possession of a python skin, approximately three-metre long.

Police confirmed the development.

“The python skin was found under the bed at the suspect’s house along Chipo Road, Zengeza 3 on 24/09/23, as the suspect’s wife was packing their property to vacate the house following the arrest of the suspect for a case of assault.”

It is an offence to be found with a python skin in Zimbabwe and many people have been jailed for the offence.

In January this year, a 46-year old villager in Western Lupane was jailed for nine years after police officers found a four-metre long python skin hanging on his dining room wall.

In February 2021, a sangoma from Gweshe 2 Village was arrested for attempting to sell a python skin for US$2 000.

Meanwhile, in Sanyati, 29-year-old Isaac Mupandawana of Chiridzangoma Village 3, Neuso was arrested on Tuesday for stock-theft.

Mupandawana was arrested while selling the stolen goat in Sunrise location.
