A man who allegedly raped a vendor who sells second hand clothes has been given bail.
Kudakwashe Mudare, 37, of Borrowdale appeared before magistrate Marehwanazvo Gofa at the Harare Magistrates’ Courts on allegations rape.
The complainant in this case is Sharon Rose Bodzo, 20, of Borrowdale, Harare.
The State, through prosecutor Pardon Dziva, alleges that sometime in July, 2021 when Bodzo was 18, she was selling second hand clothes at Ruyamuro Shops at around 0900 hours.
Mudare went to Bodzo’s container where she kept her stuff when she had knocked off to collect her items.
Bodzo went inside the container and found Mudare already there.
Mudare closed the door and went to Bodzo who tried to open another door to escape.
Mudare pushed Bodzo to the corner where he removed her skirt and pant.
She screamed for help but no one heard her since the doors were closed.
The accused person lowered his jean trousers and pants to thigh level and had sex with Bodzo.
Mudare threatened Bodzo with death if she revealed what had happened to anyone.
The matter came to light on July 28, 2023, when Bodzo narrated the matter to her sister who advised her to report to the police.
Mudareo was ordered to pay US$50.
He will appear in court on September 27 for trial.
