A-38-year-old man of Village 17 Mupukuta, Chireya Gokwe North was arrested for the callous murder of his 1 year and 2 month-old daughter Nenyasha Muzenda, who had been reported missing.
Thomas Muzenda who is an artisanal miner confessed to killing his daughter for ritual purposes to boost his mining activities.
According to the police, Thomas had approached a traditional healer who is only identified as Dhumba.
“The suspect confessed to the police that he killed his daughter with a knife for ritual purposes to allegedly boost his mining activities.
“The police have since recovered the remains of the victim from a disused well at Zenda Mining area, Gokwe North,” police said.
Meanwhile, the police is on the manhunt for a couple, John Zvivi and Lister Sibanda of Vantage area, Zvimba who are being sought in connection with a case of murder.
The couple allegedly murdered their four-year-old niece who was found dead in a stream along Harare-Bulawayo Road between Kuwadzana Extension and Glaudina, Harare last week on Wednesday.
National Police Spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said that the victim was found stashed in a 25 kilogrammes mealie-meal sack and had a deformed face.
“The suspects were allegedly seen by neighbours assaulting the victim and her sister, six, on several occasions using electric cables and switches.
“The other victim, six, is currently admitted at a local hospital where she is receiving treatment on injuries she sustained during the assault by the suspects,” Ass Comm Nyathi said.
