Man cuts in-law with chain saw

A Splitzkop Farm Compound man has appeared in court for attempted murder after cutting his brother-in-law with a chain saw on the hand.

Patrick Nyachone, 45, of Splitzkop, Farm Compound was before magistrate Letwin Rwodzi at the Harare Magistrates' Court accused of attempted murder.

The complainant in the matter is Sharon Mero, 52, of Zimre Park, Harare.

The State, through Loveit Maungira alleges that, on April 19, 2023, at around 10:25 hours at Lot 12 Splitzkop, Nyachone was cutting down trees using a chain saw.

Mero then approached Maungira ordering him not to cut down the trees.

Nyachone then became angry and started to chase Mero holding the chain saw he was using. He cut Mero once on the right hand and Mero sustained a deep cut.

Rwodzi ordered Nyachone to pay ZWL$100 000 as bail recognisance.

He will appear in court on May 29, 2023.
