A Tafara man who thought hiding his drugs in a phone was a smart idea was arrested after eight satchets were found in his phone's battery compartment.

Luxson Manuhwa, 27, appeared before the Harare Magistrates' Courts charged with unlawful dealing in dangerous drugs.

The State alleges that on April, 19, 2023 at around 14:00 hours, police detectives from CID Drugs and Narcotics, Harare, were informed that Manuhwa was dealing in drugs at his place of residence in New Tafara.

They went Manuhwa's address and found him in his bedroom.

They identified themselves to him and informed him of the purpose of their visit.

They did a body search leading to the seizure of a small Nokia cellphone from Manuhwa's right side trousers pocket which had the sachets of suspected methylenedioxymethamphatamine hidden in the battery compartment.

Manuhwa was arrested and escorted to CID Drugs Harare for investigations.

Tests were conducted and proved positive of Methamphetamine which recorded 2.3 grammes with a street value of ZWL$20 300.

Manuwa, who made his initial appearance in court Friday, was remanded in custody.
