Minor accused of raping another minor put in mother's custody

A 14-year-old boy from Epworth has been accused of raping an 8-year old from his neighbourhood.

According to a police memo gleaned by this publication, the accused person and the complainant are neighbours.

“On April 10, 2023 at around 1400hours, the accused person went to the complainant's place of residence while the complainant was watching television. He joined the complainant and they continued watching television together.

“The accused person then asked the complainant to accompany him to Brighton Junior College and she agreed. When the two got to the school, they got inside one of the classrooms where the accused raped her once. After the act, the complainant went to the accused person’s place of residence and told the accused’s mother.

On April 11, 2023, the accused person's mother told the complainant’s aunt identified as Chikoto who then accompanied the complainant to ZRP Epworth where they reported the case.

ZRP Epworth attended the scene: The complainant was escorted to Edith hospital for medical examination and treatment.

Meanwhile, the accused, being a minor, has been placed in the custody of his mother while investigations are in progress under RRB Number 5498845.
