Man murdered for asking for a cigarette

A 35-year-old man, Paul Regedzai, was arrested by Masvingo detectives in connection with a murder case where the victim, Slyvester Makina, 35, died upon admission at Masvingo Provincial hospital.

According to the police, the suspect was attacked by Regedzai and his accomplice, Takudzwa Mariko, who is still at large.

“The incident took place at Mhandamabwe Business Centre, Chivi, on February 7.

“The suspect slapped the victim on the face, hit him with a brick on the neck and kicked him severally on the back and neck after he had asked for a tobacco cigarette from Mariko,” police said.

In a similar case, police in Gwanda Urban arrested Culture Nare,24, in connection with a case of murder.

Nare slapped Thadazani Moyo,49, who died on admission at Gwanda Provincial Hospital.

Meanwhile, the police in Fort Rixon are appealing for information which may assist in the arrest of Bongani Nyandeni, Irvine Tembo and Ngwazi Nyandeni, all adults.

The suspects are connected to a case of attempted murder which occurred near Kombo Village 6 Business Centre.

The suspects assaulted the complainant severally on the head with some wooden logs accusing him of having an affair with Tembo’s ex-girlfriend.
