The Zimbabwe Republic Police has distanced itself and other security service organisations from an incident in Warren Park 1, Harare, where a leader of an apostolic sect was allegedly threatened with a pistol.
According to reports, on February 21 Lloyd Gwasarira, 43, alias Madzibaba Moses of Madzibaba Masowe Echishanu and two suspects, Tafadzwa Matoro, 37, and Elvis Borerwi, 39 had a misunderstanding leading to the latter two threatening Gwasarira.
“The two suspects were arrested and the case was referred to CID Homicide after one of them used a pistol to threaten complainant during their dispute. The dispute is purely on religious differences and has nothing to do with members of the security services or CID Homicide.
“The suspects are not even members of the security service and are employed in Tynwald and Willowvale industrial areas, respectively,” police said in a statement.
