The Zimbabwe Republic Police has applauded the public for supporting the government’s resolve to fight drug and substance abuse.

This follows the arrest of a 24-year-old man, Obedient Hove, of Whitecliff, Harare, on February 21, 2023.

The suspect was raided, searched and found in possession of 51 sachets of Crystal Meth which he was selling to the community.

As of February 20, the police arrested 31 people across the country under  operation ‘No to dangerous drugs and illicit substances’, thereby bringing cumulative arrests to 2 470.

Meanwhile, police in Chegutu have arrested Maxwell Sibanda, 19, in connection with a case of robbery in which two complainants were attacked with iron bars before two cellphones, a wrist watch and US$10 were stolen at Chihambakwe Mine, Gadzema.

The suspect was found by the police at the scene of crime leading to his arrest.

His apprehension led to the recovery of the stolen items, but the suspect’s accomplice identified as Thabani Maseko is on the run.
