A 38-year-old gold panner from Arda Endeavour in Mhangura has been sentenced to 50 years in prison after being convicted of raping his three daughters, aged 16, 12 and 10, over a period of about a year.
The man, who cannot be named to protect the victims, was convicted on three counts of rape by the Chinhoyi Regional Court.
He was sentenced to 20 years on each count, with 10 years suspended for five years on condition of good behaviour, leaving an effective 50-year custodial sentence.
The court heard that between August 2025 and September 2026, the convict, a nomadic gold panner, sexually abused his two elder daughters after asking them to accompany him to the mine where he worked.
He also abused his youngest daughter on several occasions while they were sharing a room.
Prosecutors said he threatened to kill the girls if they disclosed the abuse.

The abuse came to light after the eldest daughter eloped to her boyfriend's home.
Her boyfriend's mother took her to Makonde Christian Hospital, where she was admitted and later disclosed the abuse to her mother.
Her mother then filed a police report.
Police interviewed all three complainants, whose accounts led to the man's arrest and subsequent conviction.
In passing sentence, the court said the offences constituted a grave breach of parental trust.
