Zimbabwe's rising female boxing sensation Revai Madondo has announced herself as one of the country's brightest prospects after destroying Malawi's Tamary Mtambalika with a devastating first-round knockout in an international bout held on July 26.
The fight served as an undercard bout on a bill held to commemorate Alexander Likande and was staged at the Bremat Multi-purpose Hall in Lilongwe, Malawi.
Fresh from capturing the Zimbabwe national bantamweight championship with an impressive victory over seasoned campaigner Sehliselwe Nhliziyo in Harare, Madondo needed barely a round to dispatch Mtambalika, extending an impressive run that is quickly turning heads within Southern African boxing.
The emphatic victory further enhances Madondo's professional record to 9-5-1, underlining her growing reputation as a boxer capable of finishing contests with explosive power.
The Alexander Likande Memorial Fight Day featured a blend of Zimbabwean, Malawian and Zambian fighters, with the promoter confirming before the event that all bouts would proceed as planned after every boxer was declared fit and ready for competition.
Madondo, who once operated as a freelance boxer, now fights under the Charles Manyuchi Boxing Academy, and she attributed the victory to the structured preparation she received at camp.
"The victory came as a result of the camp I was confined to," Madondo said, crediting the disciplined environment and focused training under the Charles Manyuchi Boxing Academy for sharpening her timing and power.
From the opening bell, the Zimbabwean champion fought with remarkable composure, establishing her range before unleashing a barrage of heavy punches that overwhelmed the Malawian.
