The City of Harare and Geo Pomona Waste Management have launched a weekly campaign to clean and disinfect public spaces in the central business district that have become hotspots for public urination and defecation.
The exercise, which will take place every Sunday, is aimed at improving sanitation, reducing health risks and restoring cleanliness in the city centre.
During the latest clean up, teams sanitised several locations including Cleveland House along Cameroon Street, the CBD footbridge, Rezende Open Space at the corner of Julius Nyerere Way and Robert Mugabe Way, Sanitary Lane, areas along Nelson Mandela Avenue, and other identified hotspots.
Geo Pomona said the programme is part of its partnership with the City of Harare to improve urban sanitation standards.

The initiative comes as concerns continue to grow over deteriorating sanitary conditions in Harare's CBD.
However, residents and urban planning experts say regular clean-up campaigns alone will not solve the problem, arguing that the city also needs to increase the number of accessible and well maintained public toilets.
They say inadequate public sanitation facilities have contributed to widespread public urination and defecation, particularly in busy areas of the city centre.
