A Rural Infrastructure Development Agency (RIDA) boat has capsized on Lake Kariba, triggering a rescue operation as authorities work to establish the number of people aboard and whether there were any casualties.
Government spokesperson Nick Mangwana confirmed the incident but said key details, including the number of passengers, casualties and the cause of the accident, were not immediately available.

“Number of casualties, passenger numbers, or the cause will be updated as soon as the information is available,” Mangwana said.
Rescue teams were reportedly working to assist people who were in the water, while authorities were yet to provide a full account of what happened.
