Harare, Helcraw Partner to Boost Water Output at Morton Jaffray

The City of Harare and Helcraw Water Private Limited have begun major rehabilitation works at Morton Jaffray Water Works to increase water production and improve supply to residents.

The plant currently produces an average of just over 300 megalitres per day. Once ongoing works are complete, output is expected to rise to around 520 megalitres per day.

As part of the partnership, the City and Helcraw have installed more than 40,000 smart water meters to date, with a target of 100,000 installations set for this year.

City officials say the combined rehabilitation of Morton Jaffray, pipe replacements, and smart meter rollout will ease water challenges affecting parts of Harare.
