China, Church and Govt Join Hands to Support Returnees

The Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Zimbabwe has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting humanitarian initiatives in Zimbabwe by donating solar lights as part of assistance for Zimbabwean returnees under a partnership involving the Zimbabwe Council of Churches (ZCC) and the Government.

The contribution formed part of a humanitarian assistance handover ceremony held on 10 July 2026, during which the ZCC, led by its General Secretary, Rev. Wilfred Dimingu, provided essential support to returning citizens as part of the Church's continued commitment to serving vulnerable communities with compassion and dignity.

The event was attended by the Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution for Bulawayo Metropolitan Province, Judith Ncube, highlighting the importance of collaboration between Government, faith-based organisations and development partners in responding to the needs of Zimbabweans returning home.

We remain committed to working with partners to address the humanitarian needs of the returnees and to extend a warm, dignified and compassionate welcome to our returning Zimbabwean brothers and sisters," Ambassador Zhou said.
