FC Platinum head coach Joel Luphahla has challenged his players to be clinical and minimize mistakes when they face Caps United in a crucial Castle Lager Premier Soccer League showdown.
With FC Platinum coming into the match on the back of consecutive victories, Luphahla believes his side is slowly finding rhythm after a difficult start to the season dominated by draws.
“We started a little bit slow with a lot of draws, and it is just a matter of time before we turn those draws into wins,” said Luphahla.
The former Warriors winger said the recent improvement in results has boosted confidence within the squad, but stressed that the team remains focused and aware of the difficult challenge awaiting them against one of the league’s in-form sides.
“Yes, we have played two games and won those two games. I think it’s the first time this season that we have won back to back games, but we are not resting on our laurels to say that maybe we have arrived because we know there is still a lot of work that needs to be done.”
Luphahla acknowledged Caps United’s strong performances this season, particularly their attacking threat, and warned that FC Platinum would need discipline and concentration throughout the match.

“We know they have been doing well. They have been leading the pack for almost all the games they have played, and they have one of the best forwards in the league, which makes it not easy for us,” he said.
“We need to be at our best and make sure that we make fewer mistakes.”
Luphahla also highlighted the importance of converting opportunities, especially in an away fixture where chances can be limited.
“Playing away sometimes means you need to take your chances when you get an opportunity and make it count,” he explained.
Despite the tough assignment, Luphahla expressed satisfaction with his team’s preparations and the condition of his squad ahead of the trip.
“We have a very healthy squad. The boys are working hard, the competition is high, and the players are trying to make sure that they stay sharp,” he said.
“In terms of preparation, we have prepared very well. There is nothing that I can point out as an excuse. We know it’s not going to be easy, but we are ready to fight.”
