FC Platinum Regaining Form, Says Joel Luphahla After Consecutive Wins

FC Platinum head coach Joel Luphahla believes his side is steadily rediscovering its rhythm following back-to-back victories in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League.

The Zvishavane-based outfit first secured a hard-fought 1-0 away victory over ZPC Kariba in Kariba before edging Chicken Inn FC by the same scoreline at Mandava Stadium.

Speaking after the latest win, Luphahla admitted the team has not yet reached its peak but said recent performances signal encouraging progress.

“We are not fully back to our standards yet, but I am happy to say we are almost there, especially after winning away from home and then beating a tough team like Chicken Inn,” he said.

The FC Platinum coach also welcomed the opportunity to reward home supporters after a difficult run at Mandava Stadium.

“It is always good to give the fans what they want. We have been struggling at home, not in terms of performances, but in getting wins. The players have been playing very well and you can tell it was only a matter of time,” Luphahla added.

He praised Chicken Inn for their competitiveness despite failing to capitalise on scoring chances.

“Chicken Inn are one of the toughest teams to play against. After we scored that goal, it was too early to say whether they would equalise or not. You can only judge after the final whistle,” he said.

Meanwhile, Chicken Inn head coach Tonderai Ndiraya expressed frustration after another narrow defeat, highlighting defensive lapses as a recurring problem.

“Conceding goals in this manner is very disappointing. If you look at the games we have lost, we have been dropping points through set-pieces like free kicks and corners. I am very disappointed because we are not improving,” said Ndiraya.
