Dynamos FC Chairman Vincent Chawonza Dismisses Gate Takings Claims Linked to Sponsors

Dynamos FC chairman Vincent Chawonza has rejected claims circulating on social media alleging that club sponsors AfricaBet and ContiPay are involved in collecting matchday gate takings or seeking control of the club.

Speaking amid growing speculation surrounding Dynamos’ recent sponsorship deal, Chawonza said the reports were false and clarified that the partnership strictly relates to financial sponsorship and operational support.

“Our sponsors are not collecting any gate takings,” Chawonza said.

“There is no truth in the claims that AfricaBet wants to take over Dynamos. The partnership is purely for sponsorship and supporting the club.”

Debate over the arrangement intensified online in recent days, with football discussions and social media commentary suggesting divisions within the club’s leadership regarding sponsorship funds and matchday revenue management.

Some posts further alleged internal tensions among executives, claiming certain officials were uneasy about the perceived influence of the sponsors following the announcement of the commercial agreement.

Chawonza, however, sought to reassure supporters, insisting the club remains stable and focused on improving on-field performance.

“Everything is under control at Dynamos and supporters should continue rallying behind the team,” he said.

The sponsorship agreement with AfricaBet is regarded as one of the most significant commercial partnerships secured by Dynamos FC in recent years. Club officials say the deal is expected to strengthen player welfare, improve travel logistics and support broader operational needs as the Harare giants aim to re-establish themselves among title contenders this season.
