Two men appeared at the Harare Magistrates’ Court yesterday facing attempted murder charges following an alleged violent confrontation with a man in Hopley, Waterfalls.
Ngoni Tarunga, 32, and Onward Manatsa, 23, are accused of attacking the complainant near Rising Star Primary School in Hopley Zone 5 on March 5, 2026, at around 3:20 pm.
According to the State, the incident began when Tarunga and Manatsa confronted the complainant and started shouting at him. When the complainant questioned their behaviour, the situation reportedly escalated.

Manatsa allegedly assaulted the complainant using open hands, striking him twice on the face. Tarunga is said to have produced a knife and attempted to stab the complainant in the neck, but missed as the complainant managed to escape.
The matter was later reported to the police, leading to the arrest of the two men.
The case is set to continue at the Harare Magistrates’ Court.
