
The Minister of Industry and Commerce, Hon. N M. Ndhlovu, has commissioned vehicles for the Economic Empowerment and Trade Measures Units and a 120KVA Solar System under the Standards Development Fund, strengthening enforcement capacity within the Ministry.
Presiding over the ceremony in Harare, the Minister said the handover “strengthens enforcement of the SDF Act, Economic Empowerment legislation; including SI 215 of 2025 on Reserved Sectors; enhances monitoring of Community Economic Empowerment Trusts; and boosts compliance verification & local procurement oversight.”
The intervention reinforces implementation of the SDF Act and Economic Empowerment legislation, particularly Statutory Instrument 215 of 2025 on Reserved Sectors, which ring-fences selected sectors for Zimbabwean participation.

The Ministry also confirmed that it has installed 10KVA solar systems and boreholes at Trade Measures offices in Harare, Bulawayo, Gweru, Masvingo, Bindura and Marondera, with additional mobile laboratories expected and office laboratories planned for Chinhoyi, Marondera and Lupane.
“These interventions advance NDS2 implementation, reinforce quality infrastructure, protect consumers, support industry competitiveness & accelerate economic transformation,” the Minister said.
The Ministry qsaid the infrastructure upgrades are intended to improve enforcement mobility, strengthen standards verification systems and enhance monitoring of empowerment frameworks as Government pushes for structured implementation of industrial and trade reforms
