Ministry, NetOne Ink MoU to Empower Youth Through Digital Inclusion

The Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Development and Vocational Training has entered into a strategic partnership with NetOne Cellular (Private) Limited to launch a nationwide initiative aimed at integrating young Zimbabweans into the digital economy.

The agreement, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), establishes a comprehensive implementation framework designed to enhance connectivity, digital literacy, and financial inclusion for the youth.

Information Secretary Nick Mangwana announced the partnership this morning, emphasizing its role in modernizing the nation’s educational landscape. A primary objective of the MoU is to extend high-speed internet access to all government vocational training centers (VTCs).

“The partnership will expand internet access to vocational training centers, build digital skills, and align training with the requirements of an evolving global economy,” Mangwana said.

Officials noted that by transforming VTCs into digital hubs, the government aims to bridge the technological gap that often hinders rural and peri-urban students from competing in the modern job market.

A key pillar of the agreement involves leveraging the National Youth Service (NYS). Under the proposed implementation matrix, NYS graduates will transition from trainees to active service providers.
