Police Bust 12-Member Machete Gang Behind Mazowe Robberies

 

Police in Mazowe have arrested a 12-member gang accused of terrorising residents and miners during a series of armed robberies committed between 11 and 12 November 2025.

According to a statement issued by the Zimbabwe Republic Police on X, the suspects targeted Cress Farm, Storis Mine, and Umsasa Farm, where they allegedly assaulted victims before robbing them of valuables. 

The gang is said to have made off with a high-beam searchlight, two mobile phones, and US$680 in cash during the attacks.

Police said the arrests were made on 13 November, leading to the recovery of four machetes and five Columbia knives believed to have been used in the crimes.

The suspects were named as Taka Gomo ,29, Tafara Nyikadzino ,27, Giveus Bhangeni ,22, Johnson Marufu ,23, Witness Madzima ,27, Obvius Karambakuhwa ,27, Kudakwashe Chimanikire ,23, Crispen Manyama ,28, Nyasha Saka ,30, Blessing Chirimamumba ,22, Ronald Fositara ,21, and Blessing Mabare 24.

Police investigations are ongoing.
