
The Harare Magistrates’ Court has convicted and sentenced three men to prison for stealing US$38,460 from a parked vehicle at Machipisa Shopping Centre in Harare.
The court heard that on March 23, 2024, Emmanuel Kumbirai Nyama ,39, Charles Gauti ,34, George Makuwire ,37, and a 17-year-old juvenile, Anesu Musora, used a duplicate key to unlock the victim’s Nissan Advan and stole a bag of cash hidden under the driver’s seat while the owner was at a nightclub.

Following investigations, police arrested the offenders and recovered a Honda Fit vehicle, various household goods and electronics, and US$8,380 in cash linked to the stolen money.
Nyama, Gauti, and Makuwire were each sentenced to 30 months in prison, with 14 months suspended, leaving them to serve an effective 16 months.
Musora’s sentence was wholly suspended for five years due to his age.
The prosecution described the crime as brazen and calculated, emphasising the offenders’ deliberate efforts to conceal their actions.
