
Three employees of Banket District Hospital have been convicted of theft of trust property involving US$19 000 meant for the hospital's Health Services Fund.
James Koroni ,56, Marlon Kaguda ,37, and Lackson Dzeka ,55, — all employed as clerks and an accounting assistant — were found guilty by the Banket Magistrates’ Court for failing to deposit daily cash revenue from the Outpatients Department into the hospital’s official bank account.

Between December 27, 2024, and March 17, 2025, the trio falsified entries in the hospital’s cash book, indicating that the money had been deposited when, in fact, it had not.
A routine records check and subsequent audit by the Ministry of Health and Child Care uncovered the theft, revealing irregularities and confirming the missing funds.
None of the stolen money was recovered.
The trio now awaits sentencing.
