The National Sports Stadium came alive yesterday as thousands of local and international delegates gathered for the Jehovah’s Witnesses’ 2025 “Pure Worship!” international convention, an event that will run until tomorrow.
The three-day Bible education program, which began on Friday, August 22, has drawn participants from Zimbabwe and 14 other countries, including the United States, Europe, and several African nations.
According to organisers, the Harare leg of the global convention series is expected to attract about 40,000 local attendees and 4,000 international delegates over its two editions scheduled for August 22-24 and September 5-7.
“This year’s convention focuses on true devotion, faith, and uplifting pure worship,” said Kudakwashe Chikuvadze, spokesperson for Jehovah’s Witnesses in Zimbabwe.
“We are excited to return to the National Sports Stadium eleven years after our last international convention here in 2014.”
The program features Bible-based lectures, dramatic video presentations, interviews, and real-life experiences. On Sunday, attendees will hear a public discourse titled “Do You Worship What You Know?”, which organizers say is the highlight of the weekend.
Beyond its spiritual focus, the convention is expected to significantly boost Harare’s economy, with hotels, restaurants, airlines, and small businesses benefiting from the influx of visitors.
Jehovah’s Witnesses are among the largest convention organizers in the world, with international gatherings held periodically to foster cultural exchange and fellowship. The events are free to attend and open to all members of the public.
The current session concludes tomorrow, with the second leg scheduled to take place from September 5-7 at the same venue.
