An 18-year-old boy has been sentenced to 15 years in custody for aggravated indecent assault, assault, and malicious damage to property.
Tinotenda Majangara, 18, appeared before Magistrate Letwin Rwodzi at the Harare Magistrate’s Court charged with assault, malicious damage to property, and aggravated indecent assault.
He was sentenced to an effective 15 years behind bars.
Majangara is not related to the complainant but lives in the same area.
The complainant, a 17-year-old juvenile, told the court that on May 18, at around 5 p.m., Majangara arrived at her house with her sister and a friend and knocked on the door.
Majangara then started hitting the complainant with open hands several times all over her body, causing her to fall down.
He also stepped on her neck, pressing her down.
The court heard that Majangara tore the complainant’s black shorts and light green pants, took her Huawei phone, and pierced her private part with a cooking stick.
The value of the damaged property was estimated at US$70.
