Cabinet Endorses State Service Disability Benefits Reform Bill

Zim Now Writer

Cabinet has approved the Principles of the State Service (Disability Benefits) Bill—a legislative reform aimed at aligning existing laws with the Constitution and enhancing the administration of disability benefits for public servants.

According to Cabinet, the Bill “seeks to align the current Act with the Constitution, address administrative bottlenecks, and redefine the scope of coverage.”

To improve efficiency and flexibility, the Bill proposes to remove fixed monetary amounts from the current Act and replace them with percentages and ratios.

This adjustment is intended to simplify administration, particularly during periods of inflation or currency changes.
