David Chapfika, a former Deputy Minister of Finance and veteran ZANU PF politician, died in a car accident on Thursday morning. He was 68.
The tragic incident occurred along the Harare–Shamva Road near Stordon-Empire Farm in Goromonzi.
Preliminary reports suggest that Chapfika’s vehicle veered off a bridge and overturned, landing on its roof in a shallow river.
Chapfika served under the late President Robert Mugabe and represented Mutoko South as a Member of Parliament. He also held the position of Chairperson of the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Finance and Economic Development during his political career.
Further details surrounding the accident and funeral arrangements are yet to be released.
