A wife has taken her husband to court for calling their daughter “a prostitute”.
Patricia Urayayi summoned Cuthbert Urayayi to the Harare Civil Court, accusing him of insulting their Form Six child.
“He is a violent man and even my child is a victim. Whenever he comes home drunk, he will be a very big problem.
“He once kicked me very hard in the chest,” she said.
She told the court that Cuthbert was in the habit of following her to work and insulting her there.
Cuthbert said he was not opposed to his wife being given a peace order against him, but said his wife was no longer performing the roles he had married her for.
“She tells me to go and have my clothes done by my mother. She no longer wants to wash my clothes,” he said.
He added that he was the one who was being exploited in the marriage as everything was dictated by his wife.
“We are doing a business together, but l am not allowed to touch even a cent, l have nothing.
“She actually gave me money to come to court because everything revolves around her,” he told the court.
Magistrate Tamara Chibindi granted the peace order in favour of Patricia, while Cuthbert was ordered not to insult, assault or harass the Patricia.
