'My son wants me out of my house'

A mother has hauled her son to court, protesting that he accuses her of being a witch.

Juliet Muchenga dragged Walter Musasiwa to the Harare Civil Court, saying the son should show her the grave of the person she killed.

“Everyone in the neighborhood now hates me because of these allegations.

“He pours water on my bed, urinates at my bedroom door and insults and harasses me, your honour,” she said.

Muchenga said whenever her son heard cats walking outside, he would say that her work colleagues were now in need of her attention.

She told the court that every time she starts cooking, Musasiwa immediately switches off electricity.

“I am now being helped by handouts from church, because he does not give me any cent,” she said.

Muchenga intimated the court that she and her now-deceased husband had bought the stand and her husband built the house she is living in.

“I bought the stand together with his father. The house has four tenants, but he takes all the money to himself,” she said.

The disheartened Muchenga said she was disappointed by her son as she was the only one who care for him when he was sick.

“Not even a relative came when he was bedridden and now he treats me like this?” she queried.

Musasiwa rebutted the claims of him calling his mother a witch.

“I have never chased her from the house. l do not threaten her. I only tell her not to play with young people and that’s when she will feel like l am threatening her,” he said.

Magistrate Tamara Chibindi granted a peace order in favour of Muchenga. Musasiwa was ordered not to insult, threaten or harass his mother.
