Man hits woman with a hammer for confronting him over girlfriend

A 38-year-old Bulawayo woman who confronted her husband over the infidelity was hit by a hammer on the left palm, sustaining serious injuries.

The man, Qiniselani Oskar Khoza (36 man from Pumula South, in Bulawayo was arrested for the crime and appeared before Western Commonage magistrate Shepherd Mjanja facing a charge of physical abuse as defined in Section 3 (1) (a) as read with Section 4 (1) of the Domestic Violence Act Chapter 5:16.

Khoza pleaded guilty to the charge and was remanded out of custody to 18 November 2022 for sentencing.

The court heard that on 3 November, 2022 and at around 11pm Sibongile Sibanda (38) received a WhatsApp audio from Khoza's girlfriend, insulting her by telling her she was now an old woman who could no longer bear children.

Sibanda confronted her husband about his girlfriend but this did not go down well with Khoza, who started strangling and later hit her with a hammer on the left palm and she sustained serious injuries.

The matter was reported to the police, leading to Khoza’s arrest.
