An 18-year-old Mutare man and his 22-year-old accomplice, who were convicted of carjacking at gunpoint and later selling the car in Guruve, will spend the next 10 years behind bars.
Pardon Tsingano, and his accomplice Brighton Kasamba (22) allegedly hired the complainant to ferry them from Mudzviti to Fairbridge Park in Mutare, according to the State.
The reportedly directed the complainant to drive to Shelley Road in Fairbridge Park.
“When they got there, the accused instructed the complainant to stop the vehicle. Upon stopping the vehicle, one of the accused persons produced a fake CZ pistol, which he pointed at the complainant.
“The other accused produced a knife and threatened to stab the complainant in the stomach,” said the State.
The complainant managed to dispossess Tsingano of the fake pistol after wrestling with him.
They then forcefully threw the complainant out of the vehicle.
“The two drove off in the complainant’s Honda Fit at high speed. They later sold the Honda Fit in Guruve for US$1 600. The complainant made a report to the police, which led to the recovery of the vehicle,” the State said.
