Police investigating the death of Francis Matsika, 57 at House Number 10197 in Unit H, Seke, Chitungwiza yesterday, Monday August 19, have been informed that the former Chief Superintendent died during intimacy with long-time lover, Blessing Zuva, 45.

The Criminal Investigations Department confirmed the incident in a memorandum that sought to set the record straight following a series of social media speculations surrounding Matsika's demise.

The case is filed at ZRP Zengeza as RRB Number 6071208.

"On 19 August 2024, at around 1030 hours the now deceased paid a visit to the informant’s house.

"They had sex twice and after the second round the now deceased started gasping for air. He then collapsed and died. The informant reported the matter at ZRP Zengeza," reads part of the Memo.

The scene was attended by ZRP Zengeza, CID Homicide Harare, CID Studios and CID Scenes of Crime.

Matsika was found lying facing naked covered with a brown cover bed in Zuva’s room. No visible injuries were noted.

Police also found a pot with milk residue.

Zuva told the police that she had been in a relationship with Matsika since 2015. However the couple had last hooked up in June 2024 before Matsika connected with her on the day before his death. He told her that he missed her and would visit her the next day.

"The informant indicated that the now deceased arrived at his (her) residence at around 1030 hours with a plastic bag containing 10 litres of cooking oil and one pint of milk.

Zuva informed the police that Matsika told her that he was experiencing erectile dysfunction and instructed her to mix the milk with salt for him to drink too get him ready for action.

The couple had sex twice then Matsika showed signs of physical distress.

Zuva said she rushed to her friend, Evelyne Dziva, and told her. When the women returned to Zuva’s room, Matsika was dead.

A post-mortem is being carried out to determine cause of death and for now Zuva is being treated as an informant.
