Police in the Midlands Province are appealing to members of the public to help identify the body of a suspected thief who was assaulted to death in Zhombe two weeks ago.
Midlands provincial police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko yesterday said the man, who is believed to be in his early 30s, was reportedly found stealing groceries at an outlet at Zhombe Shopping Centre on October 29 around 1am.
“ZRP is calling for assistance from members of the public in helping to identify (the) body of a man who died after being assaulted by unknown assailants with unknown objects,” Insp Mahoko said.
The man is said to have been wearing a pair of blue work-suit trousers and was putting on a belt, blue jacket and a blue T-shirt.
The body of the man, who had no identification particulars, is being kept at Kwekwe General Hospital mortuary.
Insp Mahoko urged people to always have identification cards with them for easy identification in the event of unfortunate incidents befalling them.
