Robbers pounce on Greendale house, get away with cash, jewellery worth over US$61 000

Three armed robbers stormed a Greendale residence on Thursday, attacking a victim before getting away with jewellery and cash worth thousands.

According to the police, the three unidentified robbers were putting on face masks, armed with bricks and logs that they used to attack the victim during the robbery.

“Police in Rhodesville are investigating a case of robbery which occurred at a house in Greendale, Harare on 09/05/24 in which three unidentified male suspects who were  putting on face masks, armed with bricks and logs, attacked the victim before stealing jewellery valued at US$61 000.00 and cash amounting to US$16 800.00.

“Anyone with information to report at any nearest Police Station,” police posted on X.

Meanwhile, police have also confirmed another robbery case that occurred at Warren Park Primary, where six armed suspects attacked the school in the morning while parents were paying school fees.

“Police is investigating a case of robbery which occurred at Warren Park Primary School this morning when six armed suspects raided the school as parents were paying their school fees. The suspects went away with US$1 481.00 cash.

The police have encouraged school authorities to ramp up security to prevent such incidences, while noting that parents should utilise banking systems to make payments.

“The ZRP urges school authorities to increase security and be alert as parents pay school fees. Where possible, parents are encouraged to deposit their fees through financial institutions to curb armed robbery cases,” police said in a statement.
