A Harare businessman, Simon George Lee has allegedly been duped a record 17 times by the same person while trying to recover almost US$200 000 that he had lost to suspected fraudsters.
This emerged in court where it was disclosed that Lee was allegedly duped of an initial US$170 000 by Gabriel Arezio and Maurizio Arezio, before he lost US$18 000 while trying to recover the amount.
Alleged serial fraudster Walter Makwalo reportedly duped Lee 17 times, demanding different amounts purporting that he had connections who could help him recover the money he lost to Gabriel and Maurizio.
Lee lost US$18 000 in this cash recovery attempt.
The businessman finally filed a police report after realising that the several promises to recover his money were not materialising.
