Two Epworth suspected serial thieves, who are linked to a number of break-ins at Alexis, were remanded in custody.
Tinashe Ray Chirombo, 31, and Tryon Gutaderere, 32, both of Epworth appeared before the Harare Magistrates’ Courts charged with unlawful entry.
The State, through prosecutor Grace Mugocheke, alleges that on July 18, 2023, at Alexis House located at number 48 Rezende Street Harare, Chirombo and Gutaderere intentionally and without permission from one Virginia Kajunge the occupier of the premises concerned, entered into the premise by using an iron bar to break the shop door locks.
While inside the shop, they stole her property.
On the same date and premises they also broke into Tatenda Nyatsomba’s premises using an iron bar and stole his property.
From there, they went to Getrude Madzore’s premises and broke the shop’s door locks in order to steal her property.
After that they visited Koreen Chinyani’s premises and broke the shop door locks and stole her items they also did this to Makamure Rosely, Mukungurutse Happison Mugari and Magret Muchinapayi at the same area.
As a result of the twos actions, the complainants suffered a prejudice of US$1 004 and only US$400 was recovered.
They were remanded in custody.
