A Harare man appeared in court for raping his girlfriend after he had scheduled a meeting with her after school.
Noel Nyakurukutu, 24, of Budiriro 5 in the capital, appeared before magistrate Feresi Chakanyuka at the Harare Magistrates’ Courts accused of rape.
The complainant in this matter is a minor aged 16.
The State, through prosecutor Tawanda Nyandoro, alleges that on May 28, the complainant and Nyaurukutu arranged to meet on the following day, on May 29, after the complainant had finished school.
On May 29, at around 1230 hours the complainant was walking alone along the railway line from school heading home when she saw Nyakurukutu.
The complainant followed Nyakurukutu since they had agreed to meet.
They crossed the bridge at Marange area and they sat on the stones.
Nyakurukutu then asked the complainant to have sex with him but she refused. He forcibly pushed the complainant to the ground, grabbed her by the waist and the complainant was holding to the stone while he was behind her.
He then removed the complainant’s slack and pants before having sex with her without her consent.
The matter was unearthed when the complainant got home and was asked by her sister who had been told by a certain woman that she had seen the complainant with Nyakurukutu.
That was the time she then revealed the whole ordeal to her sister and on the same day at around 2100 hours, the complainant filed a report.
Nyakurukutu, however told the court that the two had been intimate before and it was a concocted story.
“She was my girlfriend, we used to sleep together. We wanted to marry each other,” he said.
Nyakurukutu was ordered to appear in court on June 15, for a trial date.
