A Bulawayo man who, together with accomplices from his company, stole property worth US$10 950 and later returned to the company’s promises where he resided, leading to his apprehension, has appeared in court.
Lloyd Shava, 21, of Cowdrey Park, Bulawayo appeared before the Harare Magistrates’ Courts accused of theft.
The State, alleges that on May 28, 2023, at number 3247 Coventry and Rekai Tangwena roads in Harare, the complainant in the matter, Joseph Danga, 45, of Marlborough, who is the administration manager, was told by his superior, Zhao Wenhao that there was a sudden switching off of the CCTV at the workplace and he rushed off to see what was happening.
When he arrived, he discovered that Shava and four other accused persons, who are still at large, having loaded four diesel engines, twenty boxes of drill beats, 9 bearings and YT 24 jack hammer in a silver Toyota Regius Ace.
When they discovered that they had been cornered, they fled in different directions and jumped over the precast wall and went away.
Shava later came back alone as he resided in the company’s premises.
Danga apprehended Shava and took him to the police where a report was filed.
The estimated total value of the property that was stolen is US$10 950.
Shava was ordered to appear in court today for bail application.
