On February 15, 2020 at around 0330 hours, an unmanned vehicle was reported to along Acturus Road.
ZRP Mabvuku officers who attended the scene established that keys were in the ignition, there were some house keys, car keys for a Ford Everest, vehicle registration book and a firearm and a Walther pistol serial number 295685 calibre 7.65. - showing that the vehicle may have been abandoned in odd circumstances.
CID Vehicle Theft Squad detectives established that the owner of the Ford Everest was Lei Ding, 35. A police visit to his residence in Borrowdale triggered a missing persons case as both Ding and his wife Chi Lifen were nowhere to be found.
Investigations conducted by a joint team of Zimbabwean and Chinese police led to the recovery of an iPhone, belonging to Ding.

The Chinese police took the cellphone to China and restored all data and found leads that led to the arrests of Xu Lin Lin and Luo Yengshen.
The pair confessed to taking part in the kidnap and fatal assaulr of the missing the couple, saying they dumped their bodies into an unknown dam.
They implicated Chen Long, 34, who is resident in Zimbabwe.

Long has since appeared before Harare magistrate Dennis Mangosi facing murder allegations and was remanded to June 9, 2023 pending finalisation of investigations.
Xu and Luo are set to be brought to Zimbabwe to face murder and kidnap charges.
