Milling youths sell out drug dealer

A Glen Norah man who is alleged to be a crystal methamphetamine dealer was arrested at his home after investigators saw youths making rounds at his gate.

Albert Taruza, 23, of Glen Norah, appeared before magistrate Dennis Mangosi at the Harare Magistrates' Court accused of possessing dangerous drugs.

The State presented that on May 16, 2023 at around 2000 hours, detectives from CID Drugs and Narcotics, Harare were informed that Taruza was selling crystal meth at his place in Glenorah, Harare.

They went to his place of residence where they made surveillance and saw some youths milling by Taruza's gate.

Taruza came out of the house going to the gate which prompted detectives to swiftly react and intercept him.

Detectives identified themselves and informed him of their mission. Body searches were done leading to the seizure of 2 sachets containing meth from his right hand which he wanted to serve to the youths who escaped.

Taruza led detectives to his room where further searches led discovery and seizure of 6 sachets of meth as well as some empty sachets.

Taruza was escorted to CID Drugs and Narcotics Harare with the seized meth where test conducted in Taruza's presence proved the substance to be meth.

The seized drugs recorded approximately 5 grammes with value of the ZWL$ 70 000.

Taruza was remanded in custody.

Meanwhile, Tinashe Mutsyunguma, 25, of Glen Norah B, was also before the Magistrates' accused of unlawful possession of dangerous drugs.

The State, through Zororai Nkomo, alleges that, on May 16, 2023 at around 1900 hours, detectives from CID Drugs and Narcotics deployed in Glenorah Area were informed that Mutsyunguma was selling drugs at Masimbi car park in Glenorah C.

On surveillance in the area the detectives spotted Mutsyunguma seated in a Toyota Raum.

One of the detectives posed as a buyer and Mutsyunguma sold him one sachet of meth.

The team then identified themselves to Mutsyunguma and carried out a body search leading to the recovery and seizure of sachets of meth.

Mutsyunguma was subsequently arrested and the total number of sachets recovered from him were 7.

Test confirmed that it was indeed meth and the total haul weighed 2,7g with a street value of ZW$54 000.

Mutsyunguma was remanded in custody.
