A man who raped a minor taking advantage that she was mentally challenged has appeared in court.
Onious Sunday, 31, of Marufu Village, Chief Chinamhora, appeared before magistrate Stanford Mambanje at the Harare Magistrates’ Courts accused of raping a handicapped minor.
The State through, Tawanda Nyandoro, alleges that in February 2023, at Marufu Village, on several occasions, Sunday had sexual intercourse with a juvenile, aged 15, who is mentally challenged.
Sunday took advantage of the juvenile’s situation as she could not consent to the act.
Magistrate Mambanje ordered Sunday to appear in court on July 4.
He advised him to apply for bail at the High Court because of the magnitude of the offence.
