Man up for murdering friend

An Old Marlborough man has been arraigned before the court accused of killing his while trying to restrain him from his drunk behaviour.

Balamanja Made, 31, of Old Marlborough appeared before magistrate Dennis Mangosi at the Harare Magistrates’ Courts charged with murder.

The State through, Zororai Nkomo, alleges that on April 7 at around 1500 hours Made, together with his accomplice, Eddington Chimusoro who is still at large, were at a flat at Corner Blakinston Street and Fife Avenue, Harare, drinking beer and taking drugs.

The now deceased got intoxicated and started behaving in a weird way.

He threatened to throw himself out through a window before Made teamed up with his outstanding accomplice to restrain him.

They pulled him away from the window but however, he became violent.

Made held the now deceased by the neck and pressed him down while his accomplice held him by the waist.

The two pressed him down until he lost consciousness.

The deceased’s girlfriend, Elizabeth Mtetwa and Yvonne Gwanza who were present in the flat tried to render first aid to the now deceased but his condition deteriorated.

Deceased was ferried to Michael Gelfand Clinic where he was pronounced dead and a police report was made at ZRP Harare Central.

A post mortem is yet to be conducted on deceased's remains.

Made was ordered to pay ZWL$100 000.

He will appear in court on June, 30, 2023 pending indictment.
